Working with Hazardous Chemical

All employees are required to complete mandatory training before initial assignment to any tasks involving handling use or storage of hazardous chemicals. 

Occupational Safety and Health Act – Title 29 CFR 1910 Subpart Z - Toxic and Hazardous Substances.

Hazardous chemicals are materials that can cause physical harm to individuals during their manufacture, handling or disposal. The effects from these materials may become evident after one exposure or after many exposures over a long period of time. These materials include acids, caustics, poisons, toxics, carcinogens, etc. the use of engineering controls, such as laboratory hoods, and the proper personnel protective equipment, gloves, eye protection, respirators, etc.,  provide protection from over exposures to these types of materials. Use of some chemicals may require participation in the medical monitoring program or the respiratory protection program.
